I love hot air balloons! They make me feel happy and positive about life.

I am so fascinated by them. Maybe it’s the sense of serenity, freedom, and success that they evoke.

I was browsing through a local cake decorating supplier’s Facebook page when I spotted a Not Just Cakes By Annie hot air balloon cutter. Obviously, I had to have it. So I ordered it even if I really had no immediate need for it. I just wanted to have it.
To be quite honest, I have become quite desperate to use this cutter, but none of my clients seem to be interested in hot air balloon themed goodies. I’ve had that cutter for more than two years, I guess, and I am still waiting for an opportunity to use it. This blog post made me even more excited to make something with a hot air balloon in it. Then I saw the perfect opportunity when my niece asked me for a cake. She’s recuperating from an injury that has sidetracked her college volleyball career for the moment, and I wanted to send her an encouraging message.
She’s one intelligent and talented lady, so I made this simple cake.

Here’s how I made the cake topper in fondant:
Just a few notes on this demo:
*Unfortunately, a part of the demo video was deleted. I just had to piece together what was available.
*I’ll make another demo post on hot air balloons, this time with no deleted parts and with clearer video.
*Pardon me, but this is just my second video demo.
Enjoy!
What a lovely cake for your niece! Love the details – so pretty! You did a great job and the video is great, too! Thanks for the pingback!
